My name is Cherie Levy and I am conducting a research project with Dianne Vella-Brodrick, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Positive Psychology towards a PostGraduate Diploma of Psychology at Monash University. This means that I will be writing a research report
The aim of this study is to look at the effects of mindfulness and savouring on well-being. I am conducting this research to find out whether the act of savouring and the practise of mindfulness are related to well-being and if so, which is likely to have a stronger relationship. I am also interested in the contribution personality have in this relationship. This study explores the potential benefit of meditation as a psychological therapy and compares this to the value of savouring as an intervention aimed towards improving well-being.
This study is seeking people over the age of 18 with different levels of mindfulness experiences, including those with no experience at all. Participation in the study involves completing a survey and will take about 20 minutes to complete. Your name is not required so you cannot be identified in any way. A reply paid envelope is provided for you to post your completed survey to me at no cost to you. Alternatively you can complete the survey online by going to www.surveymethods.com.
Other than the 20 minutes of your time, we do not anticipate any distress or inconvenience resulting from your participation in this study. If however, you have any questions or concerns please contact Dianne Vella-Brodrick (contact details below). Being in this study is voluntary and you are under no obligation to consent to participation. Completing the survey implies that you have consented to be part of this study. If you do consent to participate, you may only withdraw prior to the questionnaire being submitted.
Storage of the data collected will adhere to the University regulations and kept on University premises in a locked cupboard/filing cabinet for 5 years. A report of the study may be submitted for publication, but individual participants will not be identifiable in such a report. If you would like to be informed of the aggregate research findings, please contact Dianne Vella-Brodrick on 9903 2542 or fax 9594 6499 or via email: Dianne.vella-brodrick@med.monash.edu.au
